My first month in Cuba had me fried. Due largely to the embargo, there is a huge economic gap between Cubans and foreigners, old Habana is maintained as a little disneyland bubble for tourists, and locals are left with a material world they'll never have for their own dangled in front of their faces. The flip side of this is that foreigners become meal tickets, doorways to the red velvet disneyland of Habana's clubs. Combine this with the undeniable sexiness of Cuba, and I had girls sticking their tongues into my ear at shows, bending over to show me everything at bars, talking about threesomes on beaches… but all of it had a price tag attached. I was on the point of a breakdown, then I found my queen as the island started opening up… but that's another story…
