The release of tension, joy and relief, that comes as the sun peaks through the fragments of a good storm.
This track started one night on a small farm in northern california. Tired of work one evening, I heard this deep satisfying smack sound, and ran up the hill to find a friend absentmindedly hitting a big blue plastic rain barrel with a stick. That night was the full moon, so we took three of the big barrels and several smaller ones, arranged them like Dun Duns (african drum set), and Nicole and I spent the night beating wild rhythms under the pregnant moon. Those recordings formed the core of this song, which came together with highlife style guitar and flute parts, and lyrics from the time I spent living at a mango rich orphanage in Ghana. Throughout, you can hear synths made from vocoded djembes, belizean waterfalls, and the heavy electric buzz of the generators on site.
